A French carp fishing holiday for you to treasure.
At La Petite Martiniere, we are passionate about fishing and sharing our little slice of paradise with all our customers.
Our story started here in 2017, and we've shed blood, sweat and tears since then, but now we are a go-to destination for a carp fishing holiday in France.
Fed by crystal clear springs and carefully managed on-site with the help of advanced water technology, the lake is a perfect place for our fish to thrive.
There are approximately 100 carp in our current stock, ranging from mid doubles to 45lb. There are also 2 large grass carp, both over 30 pounds.
In our lakeside log cabin, you'll find everything you need for a comfortable stay. The perfect place to relax, soak up the atmosphere, and enjoy your fishing trip.
A food package is available to make your stay as convenient as possible, including classic English and traditional French dishes.
The lake is approximately 1.3 acres, which is large enough for two anglers to fish with three rods each. This offers the option of baiting up in different areas, trying different styles or some stalking fishing in the margins.
Due to its oblong shape and castable feeding spots, this is not a venue that requires a great deal of special equipment, although bait boats can be helpful for accessing certain treelined overhangs.
A natural mix of gravel, clay, and silt forms the bed of the lake, offering anglers a variety of features and depths. However, nothing is left to chance, and our on-site fishery manager continuously monitors our water quality and environment in order to maintain the perfect balance of biodiversity and create the best environment for our fish.
The shape of La Petite Martiniere has led to five swims being positioned around the lake to provide the ultimate coverage for either one or two anglers.
Two main swims are both large enough to take double bivvies but close enough to enjoy a good social.
The mid-swim is sufficiently spacious to accommodate two single bivves.
There is also a swim close to the cabin.
Lastly, there are a couple of other swims that are perfect for a bit of daytime stalking or just to enjoy a different perspective of the beautiful surroundings.
All swims are gravelled with rounded pea shingle for comfort and convenience in all weathers. Free wifi is also accessible all round the lake.
Here at La Petite Martiniere, the owner Matt, is also an experienced angler who is passionate about helping others improve their fishing skills.
Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, we're always happy to offer personalized advice and recommendations to help you have the best possible fishing experience.
The main stocking of the lake took place in 2010, with some cracking quality fish that are now proving to be well recognised and sought after by regular guests and new anglers alike.
Back in 2020 we stocked some stunningly scaled C2 carp. They went straight in to the main lake and are now showing their true colours and easily competing for the wanted captures list.
When we took over La Petite Martiniere in 2017, we chose to microchip the stock. This allows us to closely monitor feeding and growth rates, with anglers enjoying helping us record the data.
We believe that fishing is more than just sitting behind an alarm and waiting, so other species in the lake to target include specimen Tench, Perch, Crucians and the odd small Pike and Zander.
With picture perfect views of the lake, we have a cozy wood cabin for your comfort.
Inside, there is a small kitchenette area, a bathroom and a sofa-bed.
Cutlery, pans, tea-towels and bed linen are provided and English satellite TV and wifi are included in the rental cost.
Landing nets, weigh slings and unhooking mats are supplied for your use on-site and must be used at all times.
To help with your holiday experience a range of other tackle is also available for hire.
Every time the alarm sounds, the adrenaline still kicks in. There is an immediate sense of excitement once you feel the fish on the end.
‘What is it? Could it be a personal best?'
Now the goal is to get it in the net safely and get a great photo.
Our lake is known for the quality and variety of fish that reside within it, so we ask our guests to follow a few simple rules.
